Adjective or Adverb?

adverbs-main_FullWhat is the difference between an adjective and an adverb?  Well, adjectives describe nouns and adverbs describe verbs.  Most adjectives become adverbs simply by adding an “ly” after the word.  For instance…sad becomes sadly and quiet becomes quietly.  However, adjectives that end in “y” will be replaced with “ily” (happy becomes happily) and those that end in “le” will be replaced with “ly” (terrible becomes terribly).  Of course, as always there are exceptions to these rules.  It sounds more complicated than it really is and the more you practice the better you will get.  So, check out the following lesson and then practice what you’ve learned on the exercises at the bottom of the lesson page.
