Reported Speech

reporterWhen you are telling someone what another person said, you are doing so using Reported Speech.  What this really means is that you are not using the person’s exact words (direct speech), but instead you are reporting the essence of what the other person said (indirect speech).  This will require you to change tenses, pronouns, and time expressions.  You may also need to change some other things in the sentence depending on the specific situation in order to report what the other person said accurately and understandably.
